I started practicing yoga about 10 years ago but did it solely for the workout. I would push myself as hard as possible and if I didn’t sweat it wasn’t worth my money. I felt so uncomfortable during the OM part at the beginning and end of class and only participated if there was a large enough group that I could barely hear myself. And don’t even get me started with the chanting - I couldn’t understand why they would waste so much time on that instead of just starting the workout. 🙏🏼 Fast forward to a few years ago when yoga became life changing for me. I realized that there were so many more benefits besides the physical. I began dedicating my practices to not only people in my life that needed the extra love but also to people who I felt betrayed or hurt by which was a new way of thinking for me. Mediation has now become an ALMOST daily practice (still working on that one) and I seek out the classes where I know chanting will occur and love the smaller more intimate classes. I go to different teachers based on how my body is feeling that day and whether I need more of the mental/emotional/physical aspects (usually it’s a combination). 🙏🏼 These past two weeks have been tough and I have been so grateful for this practice to keep me going. Today’s Yoga Nidra was exactly what I needed especially after a Barry’s bootcamp class yesterday where the instructor kept telling us to stop being nice to our bodies 🤦♀️ . 🙏🏼 If you are dealing with any type of hormonal imbalances I strongly recommend yoga. ✨It helps decrease cortisol and adrenaline which are the main stress hormones
✨It increases melatonin which will help you sleep better ✨It can help women who have thyroid, prolactin, luteinizing hormone, and follicle stimulating hormone imbalances as well
