Maca Cacao Hot Chocolate

Updated: Jan 9, 2020

My favorite afternoon pick-me-up these days is this delicious cup of maca cacao hot chocolate! I know my taste buds have definitely changed over the years, but I swear this tastes even better than the swiss miss hot chocolate mix I had growing up! And of course, the best part is...it's good for you!

What makes this maca cacao hot chocolate better than the rest you might ask? Well, let me tell you -- it's secret ingredient + my favorite new kitchen tool that I got for Christmas.

Trust me, you'll want this!

I've talked in depth about the importance of finding clean non-dairy milks. The easiest way to know if what you are consuming is clean? MAKE IT YOURSELF! And now it's easier than ever with the plant based milk maker...ALMOND COW. I made my first almond milk this week and it took me 5 mins with zero mess and look how great it came out! It is amazing!

Ingredients:

  • 8oz of almond milk (oat is also great if you want a bit more sweetness)

  • 1 tbsp cocao powder

  • 1 tbsp of maca powder

  • 1 scoop collagen powder

  • Cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Warm up almond milk or your milk of choice in a pot on the stove

  2. Once hot pour into blender (I use my vitamin)

  3. Add cacao, maca, and collagen powder and blend for 30 secs.

  4. Pour into your favorite mug and sprinkle with cinnamon for an extra health boost and enjoy!

Health Benefits:

Cacao: Has a high content of polyphenols and flavonoids making it a great antioxidant.

Maca: Helps to maintain energy levels so you don’t crash but can be too stimulative for hyper-sensitive people. Maca can improve hormones overall by acting on the adrenal glands and supporting healthy estrogen and testosterone levels. Bonus! It supports a healthy libido.

Cinnamon: Filled vitamin K, iron, high in fiber, calcium, and manganese. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory activates, reduce the risk of heart disease and can protect against cancer, fighting against bacterial and fungal infections including HIV.
